The Bay: Official Outfitters of the Canadian Olympic TeamVANCOUVER - Starting today, Canadians have the opportunity to show their support for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by purchasing official Vancouver 2010 merchandise at select Hbc stores across the country. Hbc is the exclusive retailer of this first limited edition Vancouver 2010 merchandise until January 2006.

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), in partnership with Hbc, has developed a full range of affordable and colorful t-shirts, caps, jackets, hoodies, backpacks, umbrellas, and polo tops in men's, women's, and children's sizes, that will be gradually introduced over the coming weeks and will bear the distinctive Official Emblem of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Prices range from $18 for caps and children's
t-shirts to $100 for outerwear. The 2010 merchandise is available in most Bay and Zellers stores in British Columbia, select stores in Alberta, and in flagship Bay stores throughout Canada. Store details can be found at Hbc.com.

A broader range of officially licensed Canadian Olympic merchandise designed by Hbc and inspired by the Canadian Team Uniform for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games will be launched in the fall at special unveiling ceremonies in Toronto and Vancouver. Canadian team replica merchandise will be available in Olympic "boutiques" within all Hbc stores across Canada beginning in November 2005.

"Since we launched our distinctive emblem in April, there's been a growing demand for 2010 Games clothing and merchandise," said John Furlong, VANOC CEO. "Through the network of Hbc stores, we're giving every Canadian the opportunity to show their enthusiasm for the Games and to support our Canadian athletes."

"Hbc is pleased to be the exclusive retailer of this premier edition of Vancouver 2010 merchandise," said George Heller, President and CEO, Hudson's Bay Company. "We look forward to unveiling the exciting athlete clothing package Hbc has designed for the Canadian Olympic team's uniforms later this fall."

Authentic, official merchandise is only available at Hbc outlets, and is easily identifiable by a colourful label. A percentage of the sale of all Hbc produced Vancouver 2010 merchandise will go directly to support Canadian athletes.

The Vancouver 2010 official Games merchandise program is the first stage of the partnership between VANOC and Hbc, as Hbc is the sole retailer for Vancouver 2010 officially licensed products until January 2006. Online purchasing capability, while not currently available, will be an integral part of future retailing of Vancouver 2010 merchandise.

Other officially licensed retail outlets such as souvenir stores and gift shops will begin carrying official merchandise bearing the Vancouver 2010 emblem starting in 2006.

Dear Sir/Madam: Please advise if the 2010 uniforms for Canada's Olympic team will have any kind of animal fur on them. The sheep skin hats of the 2006 Olympics has caused much concern among the animal activists and animal foundations around the world. I look forward to your reply, Regards, Earl Bingley
